Laney Klipp "Fuzz" circuit
« on: April 26, 2023, 01:09:31 am »
Attatched a schematic from the laney klipp "fuzz" circuit, it is from the faustone valve klipper schematic but circuit is the same for v2 on original laney.

But with a 1k5/25uF and 100k rA gain stage as first triode at v1

But i would like to ask about their attempts to make a fuzz? Or a amp with inbuilt rangemaster sound basically. As most know it didnt quite work out but is still interesting.

I have a question about SW1 - i assume it is acting as a on off switch? But in some weird way, doesnt it just flip at what end of rotation you would have most fuzz?
Or does the v1 'clean" signal  cancel out the other?

I assume that when the switch is like a "blend" that it is "on"?
Or am i wrong? Tried ask a few people that builds alot of amps but have not really got a good answer about the switch yet ( not asked any engineers though ), Quite odd way to have a on/off - or is it?

Second question, many years have passed - does anyone have some idea how this circuit could be tweaked for the better? As in more drive/fuzz?

Trying out jose clipping marshall diode mod at the klipp pot?
Or something within the circuit itself, maybe something with zener diodes or such? Or add in a mosfet gain stage with it to boost certain things?

Or maybe it is wrong tube for purpose and a heptode/pentode could produce something more interesting?
Yeah sorry for rambling man.

As you probably understand the circuit is out of my league on a theory level, but will try experiment with it once i have it up and running.

But if someone would have ideas they are willing to open source for this old circuit i would think it be fun to read and take inspiration from, or if someone just likes a challenge.  :worthy1:

Thanks and cheers for reading el34 world.
