ReVibe Project
« on: December 24, 2023, 03:54:54 am »
Hey guys, I have been asked to build a revibe.
I'll follow sluckey's build as per his site.
I have a small problem in that I can't find a 10MRA pot for the intensity.
I can get 3MRA pots local but that is about it
Is a 10MRA pot needed or can I use a 3MRA
Thanks

I think Weber has those pots. At least they did some time ago.

I never understood why such a large value was needed but didn't really question it. I bought mine from Weber. Also bought PT, OT, and choke from Weber...

10M-RA...   https://www.tedweber.com/wp106ra/

PT...   https://www.tedweber.com/wrvbpt/
         https://www.tedweber.com/wrvbpteu/    (120/240V primary)

OT...   https://www.tedweber.com/w022905/

Choke...   https://www.tedweber.com/w022699/
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Hey guys, Wet day in brissy so it's a lot cooler in the SHED. :yikes:
So this is my new shed....

This is where I'm at.

I've gone as far as I can get till I get the reverse Log pots.
I can get 3MRA, so I'll get two and try them.
The 10m from Weber will cost about $60 delivered.
So I'm open to any suggestions.
Thanks

Ciao TIMBO

if you can find a 10M Linear pot give a try to this, may be it will do what you are looking for (but I'm not sure about for your application)

I wonder what company manufactures the Weber 10MRA pot. It looks like an alpha but can't tell for sure.

The Webers look exactly like Alphas. Some of the time those Weber pots are unusable and you need Alphas. I will be building a Revibe too. Simple shaker version and not the '62 Concert harmonic one. I was lucky to get a couple "blemished" chassis from Weber for super cheap. I can't tell what isn't up to snuff unless the mounting holes are in the wrong place. The graphics around the pots and other printing seems to be larger. This is a ground up build so it doesn't matter

Hey guys, Wiring is completed.
I was unable to get a 10M reverse log pot, so a 3MRA will be used and should work.

One more check over and we're good for a test

Nice build, love the harmonic tremolo circuit.

Here is an old thread from the telecaster forum that goes into a 10M pot alternative.

Do you have to do anything special with that galvanized chassis as far as grounding is concerned?

Hey mate, All the ground connections to chassis are cleaned and tags are soldered to chassis as well as star washers used to secure bolts.

I thought galvanize soldered "OK" with sandpaper and old-school Plumbers flux (zinc chloride in vaseline). There are issues about wind and rain on the 'tin' roof, strength and corrosion, but an indoor amp with short warranty may be fine?

Hey guys, Has fired up well.
There is plenty of boing with a cool tremolo.
The 3MRA intensity pot works well and maybe having a 10MRA might just give a better range.
There is a little fizz generated that pulsates with the speed of the trem with just a hit of hum that is underlying as well.
Overall works great.

Paired it with the 2144 combo

I've seen many many galvanized boat trailers survive several -40 winters with nothing but a star washer as a ground, if that.  The connection will outlive the copper.  I'm sure your warranty will be fine.
