Bass Speaker as guitar Speaker
« on: December 30, 2023, 12:40:14 pm »
I can get on the cheap a broken Stinger STP50B

https://www.strumentimusicali.net/manuali/PROEL_STP50B_ITA.pdf

On the manual the amp bandwidth is indicated to be 50Hz - 6KHz

what do you think, the 12" speaker will be usable if I convert this combo in a tube guitar amp ?

and in general, Bass Speakers are usable for guitar or not at all ?

Thanks

Franco

I've played over some bass amps that with a little tone stack adjustment, did great for guitar.
On the right track now<><

and didn't the Fender Bassman become many guitarist's favorite over the years

When I play guitar through my Fender Rumble 40 (a bass amp albeit ss) it makes the guitar sound really full
Although I still like bare (no pedals) vintage (old glass and iron) guitar tube amps best

BTW - that rumble 40 sounds so good for bass and really lightweight

A bass speaker will never sound as bright as a guitar speaker. So, if you are chasing a twangy sound, a bass speaker will not make you happy.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!
