The TON is designed to replace the signal shunt type trem such as found in the AB763 amps. The TON would not work in a bias vary circuit.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Just did a side by side comparison of the 35 watt 6L6 and the 20 watt 6V6. Both sound very similar. The 6L6 version sounds a little more open where the 6V6 version is a tad warmer. They’re both 2x10. Both have one Tonespeak ceramic of the same type, but the other speaker is an alnico Tonespeak Boston in the 35 watter and the 20 watter has a jensen neo. Maybe that’s the obvious difference. Will test that soon. For now, I’m biased to say the 6V6 one is my favourite. But pretty close. Man I’m happy with these amps!!! Having that Vibro King tone in a smaller 45lbs package. And looking nicer too IMHO 😎

Incredible build!

Can you share the changes to the schematic and layout for this 6v6 one?
Also, can you share which transformers you used?

thanks!

I did a master volume on the 35 watt. It’s a simple PPIMV with a 1M log pot with on/off switch. The sweep sucks, but on lower settings and the amp’s volume up gets a nice bluesy overdrive. Nothing fancy, but all in all pretty useful.

Woooo, that's a beautiful tone.  It sounds like it'd be great for Chris Isaak-y lush Strat lines.

Good morning everyone.

I am looking for some wisdom regrading the SVK22 build.

Everything works and the circuit sounds wonderful. Reverb is quite lush

Yet is am still having an issue with the tremolo and how much it is loaded down and signal loss when it is engaged. Even with the intensity turned all the way down and flipping between the tremolo being on and off there is quite a noticeable loss in volume.

Any thoughts on a direction to turn to not have such a drop or get the circuit more balanced?

Thanks!

Bias-vary trem will affect the gain and that’s an inherent characteristic of that tremolo method. (It’s changing the bias). You can dial down the output tube idle bias a bit so that the tubes run colder and the LFO doesn’t have to work as hard to turn the tubes on and off (but that’s at the expense of toan). That’s about all you can do.
A bus stops at a bus station. A train stops at a train station. On my desk, I have a work station.

Hmmmm...looks as though I have something else going on.

Even with the bias set cool, then to almost at shutoff and not conducting, the level drop is still incredibly drastic - audibly to a -12db pad.

I still search to balance this out......

The original VK used a 5M intensity pot. Replace that 250K intensity pot with this CTS 3.3M-RA pot.

Thanks for all the suggestions and replies.

After much investigation it appears that the vcl5c1's I have purchased from some dodgy place in China are fakes, and is undoubtedly the issue with the EXTREME volume drop when in circuit. Testing these dark, they all are drastically varied in resistance with nothing in the 1M range . So I called the local electronics shop and find out this part is discontinued. Without buying another bunch of look-alikes again, would anyone have a few available to buy?

Thanks 🙏

Built another one! This one was really challenging because of the very small chassis. Ship in a bottle stuff!
It’s a chassis and cab form a 1965 Gretsch amp. This is gonna look soooo nice when I assemble this tomorrow  🤘🤘🤘

Here is how she looks finished. I changed the grill cloth back to white. The white is non original ofcourse, but that was what was on there when I got it. It looks nastier IMHO. The grey on too polite.
