Sunn 300T rebuild ideas
« on: November 30, 2024, 09:56:02 pm »
I have another thread on this forum about repairing a Sunn 300T that I picked up in a non-working state for cheap. Long story short I've decided to gut it and see if I can build something cool with the iron and chassis, both of which are real big. My initial thought was something along the lines of a 400W Hiwatt (DR405), or maybe a supercharged version of the Dr. Z Delta 88, but thought I'd see if anyone here had some interesting ideas. Practicality isn't really a major concern as it's already pretty silly in terms of size and weight - I just want to build something fun and interesting and continue learning.

* For reference so far I've built a tweed deluxe style amp, an AB763 style amp, an SLO100, a Matamp GT120, and a DR103 clone.

Attaching a photo of the gutted chassis for inspiration. The attached PT spec sheet from MM is accurate as far as the voltages go - I just tested the PT.
