Very cool!

Clapton and Beck together would be amazing to see live.  I think Beck stole the show here (or those girls in the background)...I am a huge clapton fan too, but WOW Jeff Beck cooks!  :o

I love listening to Sly & the Family Stone records...they have some of the best funky wah-wah guitar sounds. Glad to see these guys covering that classic soul.

Thanks for sharing ... great clip.
Saw Beck a few weeks ago at a smallish venue totally blown away with his sound and technique.  His righthand is the best on a strat, little pinky on the vol control, 3rd finger pulls on trem, 2nd finger pushes on trem, 1st finger and thumb pick strings, heal of hand rests on floating trem for fast vibrato, all at the same time. Too much for my tiny mind to ponder. Tone went from the nicest lap steel to dobro ( slide on 2nd finger)to howling strat/marshall and back again all in one/two bars (from a strat/marshall??..give me a break). His rig, a JTM45/quad, then what looked like a dsl marshall/quad, couple of wedges(celestions) on front of stage as ext from amps, large side fill on each end of stage for reverb and delays (switched by his tech). Awesome 5.1 surround sound. I'm contemplating building a princeton reverb as my 20watt amp is to loud for the venues I play.. :-[

I'm a big Beck fan so I give him the edge if for no other reason than technique, he's got it in spades. He and Eric (and guys like Bonamassa, Satch, Vai etc.) just appear to be on another level. Its humbling to say the least to see even local artist that are REALLY good, but some just appear to be at a level all they're own. IMHO of course.

:)  My first take was that Clapton was a bit perfunctory.  But if you get yourself in the right kinda smokey mood, and close your eyes, Clapton's riffs become a more mantra-like.

I like Clapton ok, but his playing doesn't even come close to lighting a fire under my butt like Beck does.

Beck and Hendrix were about all I listened to way, way, way back when.

Beck still continues to amaze me.

Yes, Beck's riffs are more fiery. But if receptive, Clapton's riffs can "take you higher".  If you listen critically it's hard to appreciate Clapton's performance.  But if you let your conciousness "float", the repitition is meditative.  Maybe I'm just a biased Clapton fan.

This is the 2nd video I've seen of Clapton taking more or less of a 2nd seat to Beck, from a critical perspective.  I couldn't tell whose band it was.

About the only time Clapton really got my attention was the Cream days.

I think his song writing is great, but I don't put him anywhere near the top of my favorite guitar players list.
I really like a bunch of his songs.

His playing is really predictable to my ears.
