New Tune 56T & VVR
« on: August 14, 2009, 09:46:54 am »
Thought I'd try another song with the VVR in the 56T.  Always liked this song, but I can't sing.

Thought I'd try another type of music to demo the overdrive the amp has at super low volumes.

http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?q=hi&songID=7971197

A window will pop up trying to close ........ just click "NO" and the song should play.

To demo the amp with minimal effects ....... I used no pedals and only EQ'd and added a small amount of delay.

Sounds like you have finally nailed your overdriven tone

How are you doing the recording now?

I am using this preamp gizmo my son gave me for Father's day and still mic'ing the amp cab.  However, even that (the preamp gizmo)  wasn't working until I installed this VVR on the amp to get it to much lower levels.

This had a backtrack that I played a rhythm track (finger pickin) and lead on. The finger picking blended into the backtrack almost perfectly. Sounds like part of the original mix to my ears.

My system is NO where even close to doing what yours does & is capable of. What you're doing makes more sense to me for recording than anything else I've seen or been exposed to. Plus it sounds better then even what I'm getting now.

But at least, I'm making progress. I'm not getting overdrive at conversational levels like yours can, but I'm getting overdrive at close to TV volume levels so that's a big improvement.  It opens alot more possibilities for me. I've been playing with nice overdrive at home but never could get it recorded before.

Re-did the mix after listening to the tune thru headphones. Hopefully this is better.

Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate you taking the time to offer it.  Jeff

I was already impressed with what your were doing on the other faster track, but I love hearing you ring the notes out on this one.  I like the tune too, and your playing really fits.

I've got a lot of projects on my list, but some of them are going to have to wait while I get a 56T wired up.

Thanks again for posting the clips

It asked my browser if a popup was ok and then it said that it wanted to close the current tab.

Look for the pop thing at the top of the browser window and tell it not to close the tab
It played fine for me after that.

I allowed pop up's for that, but it sent me to another page, not Jeff's specifically?

Yeah, I just tried the link for me & simply clicked "no" when it asked if I wanted to close the browser.  It worked fine for me.
