Transformer label ID help needed
« on: March 18, 2012, 07:54:45 pm »
I have a power tranny TF-130 1052 9716 and an output tranny TF-135 1052 9444 that I am having a fit finding identification for on the web. I know they are for a 4-6L6 amp but do not know what the extra 8 digits mean.

According to a couple sources of unknown reliability, they are transformers sold by MagicParts. The TF# is simply a relabel done by MagicParts to conform to their numbering scheme. But then, Vibroworld has Pacific Transformers listed with the same numbering scheme.

Thanks HotBluePlates. I was on their website earlier and found them but am not sure about the additional digits and their meaning.

Well, one of the sites of earlier info claimed the MagicParts transformers were simply re-labeled Pacific transformers.

The EIA Code List at Triode Electronics seems to confirm that. "1052" is the EIA code for Pacific.

The other digits are YYWW format, indicating the year and week of manufacture. Looks like your TF-130 was made the 16th week of 1997, and your TF-135 made the 44th week of 1994.

The transformers are (as far as I know) the power and output transformers for a Twin or comparable 4x 6L6 amp.

It also says in the Magic Parts catalog number 55, relatively recent:

*Note: TF125/135 may require re-drilling 2 mounting holes.

They're probably talking about a Twin OT replacement

Specifications for the TF135 from the catalog:

Primary (Plate to Plate): 1,900 OHMS
Secondary: 4 OHMS - no taps
Freq Response < 1 dB roll off: 20HZ to 20K HZ

sells for (one) $88.15

al
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

No direct experience with the mentioned iron but the few Pacific-sourced PTs and OTs I've tested or used were excellent.
