yes! after a year of trying (i am not a tech), finally fixed it!!

a friend gave this to me (yeah, free) a year or so ago, completely dead. after a while, i got it to "working", but champ-quiet. as i was pulling a tube out today however (the PI), it felt really weird, like it was wiggly in the socket. well, this amp at some point, had some water damage, and a trail of rust can be seen on the steel chassis, running past the tube sockets.

replaced the whole socket with one i had lyin around, and viola!

loud as hell, sounds like dirty 1973 heaven when cranked! oh yeah, also put a ppimv in, woo!

super-happy, cheers!

scott

ps, the 'hello kitty' lunchbox in lower left is the power supply for my 'amaretto boost' - cuz i'm manly.

Yeah!  Bringing something back to life is always particularly satisfying.

what makes this amp doubly-cool for me is: in my very first crappy high school band, i borrowed my older brother's yba-1 (w/ 1x18" celestion folded horn cab!) for guitar. i remember distinctly, cranking it with awe... this head is my instant new main squeeze - lordy!
