Always in the shadow of the controllers! Nothing has changed.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Radio/TV techs slighted?
« Reply #2 on: January 06, 2015, 06:44:33 pm »
Another text about technicians; somewhat long-winded.

Mac and Barney work in Mac's TV/Radio repair shop. Oddly they don't do much fixing, they mostly talk about the customers and the business. Today Barney is wondering if small radio/TV shops are doing a good job, and Mac has thoughts about that.

Frye got paid by the word; I've edited some filler.

I'd like to see Dave Barry do a rewrite based on today's technology. Now that would be funny!   :l2:

Military electronics maintenance has changed since 1960.  :icon_biggrin:

Instead of guys having relatively few items they work on, with which they become expertly familiar, they are trained to be generalists. I was trained to operate (and maintain) a particular test bench which was tasked with repair of 14,000 different items. The military acknowledged up front you'd have know way of really knowing/understanding all the pieces you might have to fix, so they spent a lot of time on documentation and test routines to help you fix something you know nothing about.

Like anything else, you become an expert on what doesn't work, because that's what shows up for repair most often.

I think it was the engineers who were being dis'ed.   :icon_biggrin: :icon_biggrin: (After all everything we design works on paper).   :l2:
