Older Weber blue capcans
« on: January 29, 2016, 07:40:29 am »
Not sure what happened. I see that Weber has a different style now.
One, maybe 2 of mine dropped out of their cans, then shorted out on other wires.
Toasted all 4 power tubes. 😢😢😢😢
Either they dropped out or the amp got slammed or dropped hard.
Anyone had this problem?

Thanks!✌🏻️✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻

Your saying the Weber cap can fell apart, center of the can cap slipped out of the can?

Never heard of that but anything is possible with cheap caps.

I don't know if I would consider $28 a piece cheap, but?? I'll post a pic after I pull them. Should be able to tell if they exploded.

The way that Weber made their blue cap cans, they aren't very sturdy. The copper tube is glued from the end of the tube to a forbon base with CA glue. I've broken some bases off the cans in the past just installing the can on the amp and had to re-glue them. They are handy in that you can get custom cans with different values and even separate grounds, but they need to be made better.
