Jack Hester has passed
« on: June 09, 2016, 04:46:24 pm »
I hope I'm not posting this in the wrong place but I thought some of you who have interacted with Jack Hester on this forum would probably like to know that Jack passed away this morning. I work for the the same company that Jack worked for and I got to know him over the past couple of years. We shared a common interest in tube amps and electronics. Jack was a man of many talents. He had a passion for motorcycles, he was a pilot, he was a programmer, he was a history buff and a licensed radio operator and I'm sure there are other interest and accomplishments that I do not know of since I've only known him for a few years. What I do know is that he was a pleasure to work with, to talk to and to hang out with. An affable confident genuine person and an inspiration.

Personally I'm crushed by this news and I know he will be sorely missed by many of his friends and coworkers.

Oh wow, that's horrible news.  I've chatted with him on this forum a bit, about linux amps, etc, and he was a sharp, curious guy that always tried to learn more.  He'll be missed by me for sure, even with the little interactions I'd had.

Rest in Peace Jack

I always enjoyed reading Jack's posts. He was a solid guy, very easy to be around, and had a good understanding of what this forum is about. I will certainly miss him. Goodbye my friend.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

That's absolutely terrible.  And unexpected.  I mean, he was just talking about future projects not more than a couple of weeks ago.

What a great guy, always trying to help people.  The style of his posts always made you feel like he was a personal friend.  This really bums me out.

Really sorry. I'm not sure I ever interacted with Jack on here, but just reading his posts made me wish we were neighbors.

I'm Truly Shocked!  Jack and I always ended up talking motorcycles instead of amps so much. The whole history of Harley Davidson motorcycles, all the makes, models down to individual parts was all in his head. He was the one who directed me to the Motorcycle Museum in Asheboro NC I visited this spring. I don't know if this should be discussed but I can't help but wonder what happened to him?  Maybe someone could send me a PM on that. He always seemed like a true friend even though I never met him face to face. I will surly miss him and pray for his family. Platefire

I've been gone for a while and this is terrible news.  Just a few months ago he was talking about selling all his HAM gear and then fired everything up again.  Jack was a great guy with lots of knowledge and interests.  What a loss.  He will be missed.
