Diode spacing??
« on: August 12, 2016, 10:12:37 pm »
Are there any general rules for diode spacing for a SS rectifier? My space is a little tight and the leads for some of the diodes will be about 9/32" apart. Is that safe?

1/4"? Seems generous to me.

9/32" is fine for 1N4007 or other DO-41 case style diodes.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Thanks. I'm completely ignorant to all of this and didn't know if there was a risk of arcing if they were too close.

The arching risk depends on the voltage

if you use 1000v or higher B+ then you must pay particoular attention as to avoid risks

a bit less if B+ is in orther of 800v and so on

May be here you can read something of interesting also if dedicated to PCB traces and SS components
