another heater question
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
was just re biasing my hoffman 5f6a and thought i'd check the heater v, and it seems i'm only getting 6.3 off one wire, w/o valves in and measuring from the lamp connection. Shouldn't it be 3.15 from both? is my tranny buggered? All replies much appreciated.

It depends on what method you used to wire your heaters. The modern standard of 4+5 - 9 wired independently, with a centertap to ground, should measure 6.3VAC across the two wires, but 3.15 from one wire to ground.

update

after a lot of cursing i stripped the heater wire on the tranny which had no voltage only to find it had broken under the insulation. all is now well.
