Swart made dark brown tweed by simply lacquer spray painting the regular tweed. You might be able to the same.

John,

Green Tweed is not available. Also the Tweed produced is coated and is a shade of Yellow. It also depends on where you get it. Some shades are darker than others. You may be able to tint it Blue to get a green color, but you would have to test. I use "Clear" Shellac with Transtint (woodcraft) to modify the color of Tweed cabs I build. You can then topcoat with Lacquer. Or another option is to tint the Lacquer itself. I prefer the shellac as a base coat.

Bruce, thanks for the reply. I am ready to give up on the green tweed. What about vertical tweed. I cant find that anywhere either.  john

John,

That one is easy. You simply have to buy enough tweed to cut it vertical. it comes 64" wide and the "stripes" run diagonal. For a champ thats not to bad at $30.00 or so a yard retail. I would have to do the math but I would assume at least a yard to do it maybe a bit more. I build cabs as part of my business so I typically buy 50 yards at a time from the source. If you decide to go that route shoot me a PM or an email. I may be able to save you a few bucks.

Bruce, thanks for the help.  Wow your right that was easy. That never crossed my mine. I am a ways out from finished. Thanks so much for the offer on the tweed.

Thanks again John

Just a thought:
I covered an amp in striped blue denim material from a fabric shop, same as you would tweed. It looks great.... but whatever you do, never buy brushed material. I didn't know the difference but I do now! It's slightly fuzzy. After the finish was applied, it was like spiked hair! It took about 20 sanding and finishings to get it smooth. It would have taken 2 with normal material. Maybe you can find striped green denim at a fabric store. It's worth a try. Make sure it's not brushed and you'll be fine.
Good luck,
Dave

They give the faded jean look by using sanders on the material.  I am not surprised it has a lot of hairs.
