Dating my Fender amp
« on: August 18, 2010, 05:20:17 pm »
Having trouble trying to figure out when my Fender Prosonic was made.
It has a serial number of CR-270365. According to the Fender website it should be a 92
but that cant be right these amps were not in production til 95.

The date code is not in the serial number,it's on the quality assurance tag. It's the last digits, not the first like the serial number.

Check the iron : you should have something like 606-yyww giving you the year and week.

There should be four digits after the 606 manufacturer code.

a suggestion - go to fenders website and support section and give them an email and ask if they can help - I've had very good response doing this...

You can also look at the pots for date codes. It's a similar scheme to the transformers, with fff-yy-ww. "fff" is the factory/company code, the next digit (or 2) is the year, and the last 2 digits are the week.

Or you could just guess mid-late 90's and likely be close enough.
