The One That Got Away
« on: November 19, 2013, 04:49:37 pm »
Spotted a Hammond M-3 in the Goodwill today:

Complete with tubes,  really nice wood and the price was right:

The inside was dusty, but it didn't look as if it had been tampered with:

But it was an inch too deep for my vehicle.

I didn't really need another project anyway.

Especially one which weighed 250 pounds.

And most of the preamp tubes were 12AU7s, only one 12AX7. A couple of vintage 6V6s, however.

Oh well...

I would have carried that Hammond on my back if I could have bought for $4.99.

You could have rented a small truck and still ended up with an M3 for well under a $100. Home depot rents trucks from small to large.

It's been there a couple of days, maybe they'll mark it down!

I thought about renting a truck, but I'd need to hire some muscle as well. :help:

I bought a Ballwin Organ at my Goodwill and they Loaded it on my truck for me. Can't believe that price they put on yours!!! At my goodwill they put prices higher on their stuff than you could buy in new.   :dontknow: Platefire

Seriously that m3 looks super nice for a goodwill piece! My goodwill organ score was a 1963 wurlitzer with all tube oscillator banks, like 28 dual triodes just for this circuit alone. It definately has that "how the heck did they wire these up successfully?" vibe to it when you open the back. I got into a heated auction and ended up giving $50 for it...plugged it in and it mostly worked. The gentleman was very nice about loading it up for me!
