D'Mars ODS & FX update

I've  continued to make very slow tweaks over quite a bit of time on this amp to get it even more dialed in to the tone that I want.

This was built on the Hoffman style D'Mars board.  

The "OD fat" switch is proving useful to me and switches in two cap simultaneously to fatten the OD tone.  I found this to be a better fit for what I want then a PAB switch. I also put the NFB on a switch and now find myself playing it more without the NFB. I do like the NFB tone also.

I also converted the D'Mars ODS head cab/speaker cab into a combo cab using "soft" maple.  It's actually remarkably light weight and has a beautiful transparent tone to it, IMO.  I was initially concerned it would possibly be too bright sounding but that is NOT the case with the "soft" maple cab.  

I like the tone of the combo cab better than the sapele speaker cab that I was using before. The tone seems a little fuller to me and has a "sort of" slight 3-D dimensional tone to my ears.  The sapele speaker cab was smaller and the sapele was much denser wood.

Wow! Fine looking amp. I love that natural maple look of the cab. Looking at the schematic looks like you incorporated all your switching and component tweaking experiance into this one. I see you've gone with lower gain tubes in all the preamp/FX section but on the PI I guess the court is still out as you haven't filled in the blank(12A_7) on that one. Thanks for the help you've given on my amp projects! Platefire

What's the wood in the front under the controls?

A left over scrap piece of sorta flame/quilt maple.  I "popped" the flame on it by dyeing it 4 times and sanding it back to "bare" wood after each dyeing............ then I dyed it brown and then stained it with oil red mahoganey stain.  To be honest, the piece of wood looked pretty bland without much figure until I worked with it.
