Looking to build a PSE 10 watt. Suggestions on circuit and OT?
« on: January 01, 2016, 02:55:52 pm »
I want to build a PSE 10 watt combo. I have a 5 watt. Would like to up it a little. Looking for schematic and OT suggestion. I have been using the Gretsch 6151 schematic for my 5 watt.

This the only OT I found. Hoping someone can suggest some others.

Here's one I build awhile ago, went over pretty well with my Son and his guitar friends
Went Class C for efficiency

Another option is Gibsons GA-8 6V6, pse.  I built this also, my *note* taking skill were pretty bad so I don't have OT data I used.  Also a went over well with the guitar guys

Note that double-Watts is NOT twice as loud. You may be disappointed. Twice-as-loud suggests 20W-50W, but roadies hate hi-power SE amps.

3W-25W  http://www.hammondmfg.com/125SE.htm
30W or 75W  http://www.hammondmfg.com/1627.htm  ($$$)

Same plan, only raise the main B+ voltage and current 40% and use a power bottle twice the size of a 6V6 (such as 6L6GC, KT88, EL34...).

Or keep the same B+, double the available current, half the load, and parallel two 6V6. (Use grid-stoppers and add 100r in each plate and screen lead.)

Fender AA-Champ is another fine base if you like knobs.
