Convert oz/sq ft to oz/cu yd
« on: September 08, 2017, 07:00:46 pm »
Looking to buy new carpet, some give the carpet 'face' weight in oz/cubic yd's others in oz/sq yd.

I can't seem to find an online cal. to covert these.  :BangHead:

I'm trying to compare prices.

   Thanks  Brad

Someone may be confusing face weight and density. This may help...

A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Doh!  :BangHead:    Yes, that would be me.

This may help...

Thank you so much Sluckey, it was a great help to Pam and I. (That link has many other links so you get the full picture of what to look for.)

Looks like we made a pretty good to very good choice.  :icon_biggrin:

there are 9 sqft in in a sq yard.  (3 feet to a yard), square that number If you want 4 oz per sqft then you want 36 oz in a sqyd. divide by 9 to go the other way.

When you think about it, you have oz, a volume/weight (density plays a factor) measurement, mixed with area.  that oz/area has volume displacement associated with it.

was that troy oz, fluid oz (bad Houston and now Tampa wet carpet joke), or common oz?   :icon_biggrin:

On the volume side, 27 cuft in cubic yard.  3 x 3 x 3.  You may have to use it, because you may have to dispose of the old carpet.

I'm glad you didn't ask how long would my fifth of whiskey last if I put a tsp a day into my morning coffee. (I lost a fifth of Crown Royal to some else's coffee once upon a time, I got the last shot)

This  :BangHead: emoji has
a pun factor,  face weight, because of F=ma  just don't ask me to provide mass to weight conversion I put that book away five years ago.
