Hoffman Board material info- Eyelet & Turret lug layout info
« on: August 30, 2018, 01:50:54 pm »
All Hoffman board material is 3.125 inches tall
Eyelet or Turret boards Lengths can be up to 18 inches long

I have large 36 inch x 48 inch sheets of .125 inch thick FR4 glass epoxy sawed up as 3.125 inch wide strips x 48 inches long
There are 11 strips per sheet when done plus about a 1 inch wide piece of scrap
It's the most efficient way of not wasting an expensive material
The strips are shipped to me from a large company that is willing to saw those sheets up and ship them

I stock this board material in two colors - Natural and Black

I don't rip the boards lengthwise into thinner boards
You will only be able to get a 3.125 inch tall boards

So there is the explanation of why all the boards I make are 3.125 inches tall

And here is a picture of a bunch of board materials I receive it from my source

Fender Eyelet & Turret lug layout info
« Reply #1 on: November 04, 2020, 06:18:32 am »
Eyelets and Turret lugs are different hole diameters
1/8 inch for eyelets and 3/32 inch for lugs

Eyelets have a larger inner hole that can be stuffed with several wires
Turret Lugs have a small inner hole that maybe two small wire leads can go into

Eyelet layouts do not convert directly to turret lug layouts because of the inner hole size
You cannot stuff several wire leads into a turret lug like you can on a eyelet

See my image below for just a couple example on a Fender board where this will not work
You would have to wrap some wires around the outside of the turret lug instead of inserting them into the lug

Layouts usually should be re-designed and more lugs added if you want to take an eyelet board layout and convert it into a turret board layout
You can edit any of the Fender .diy files that are located in the DIY Library
That link is shown below

If you want to have a Fender board made with turret lugs, read the reply below this one

If you read all the Fender layout info above and you want to have a Fender board made with turret lugs, this is how you do that.

Go to the DIY library and get the .diy Fender file you want to have made
The library link is here
https://el34world.com/charts/DiyLayoutCreatorFiles.htm

Edit the Fender layout file in DIYLC if you want to change some things
Add more turret lugs if you ned to

Add the file to your shopping cart using the DIYLC File Analyzer program
You can choose board color and terminal types in the DIYLC Analyzer program

The DIYLC analyzer program is here
https://hoffmanamps.com/php/DIYLC/DiyFileAnalyzer.php

Add more parts to your shopping cart or checkout with your custom board.

The shopping cart link is here

Can a board be design such that it includes some turrets and some eyelets?

No, sorry.
I would have to stop the machine and load a different bit
And the board would have to be two different files
You can get get a drilled only turret board and then drill out the eyelet holes larger
Then you would have to install the terminals your self

Can I have wire holes in my custom board?

(1) Not if you want the terminals installed
I do not want to have to refer to a drawing to figure out which holes get terminals and which holes are wires holes

(2) You can have wire holes drilled if you order a board without the terminals installed
All holes will be the same diameter as the terminal holes

Turret Lug holes are 3/32 inches (0.09375 inches)
Eyelet holes are 1/8th inches (0.125 inches)

Large Commercial custom board orders
I don't mind doing personal orders for custom boards that are only one or two boards

I don't want to do large commercial board orders that have terminals installed
If you want to order a large quantity of boards that are drilled only, that is not a problem

You will have to install the terminals yourself on large orders

Just order your custom boards with drilled only option and then order the terminals to go with your custom boards
