Hip Shot Trem Setter?
« on: October 24, 2019, 05:34:57 pm »
Anybody use this in their Strat?

One of the things it's supposed to do is make string bending easier on a floating trem by holding the trem in place as you bend a string up.

If so, do you like it? Any problems you've had with it? Did it change the tone any?

I'm thinking of trying 1 out.

I used to have a couple guitars with one of those in them. My recollection is that they worked pretty well but not 100% what they claim. Of course, I may have not had them adjusted properly...

Returning to "zero" was pretty effective, the bending stuff... much better than without but like I said, still not as good as a hardtail.

I've given up on trems... my two strats are a hardtail and a decked bridge now.

I'm not having a problem with the strings returning in tune, but I don't dive bomb or pull up on the bar at all.

What I love is to just shake the cord a little, love that!

I would like to minimize the strings from fighting me when I bend. Any amount this does that would be welcomed.

And when I bend the B or G string up and fret the string below it for a double stop, I'd like to minimize the string below the bent B or G from going flat.

Yeah in your case I'd say give it a try then. You do have to do some fiddling to get it dialed-in as there is a "sweet spot" you need to find, but I was younger and way more impatient back then.  :icon_biggrin:
