Line out Issue
« on: May 16, 2023, 01:38:01 pm »
I'm building a single ended "fenderish" SE Amp. I've never really messed around with Line outs, and decided i'd try it to experiment with running the amp as a pre-amp to drive another amp.

The line out voltage divider was lifted from the "Dizzy Bird" schematic posted on the amp garage.

I finally tested it today and with the internal Speaker still connected to to the amp (#1), running the line out to the input of amp (#2).

With Amp #1's L/O connected to the input jack of Amp #2 with the vol all the way off, I can hear Amp #1 like normal through the internal speaker. When I turn up Amp #2's Vol even just a little bit, the internal speaker through amp#1 cuts out and now Amp#1 is only heard through Amp#2

Where did I go wrong?

I'm guessing it's not wired like the schematic you posted. Or maybe you're not telling the whole truth.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Sluckey, I know it looks like a mess but that's how it's wired. I'm building it as a small combo and have never really used line outs before now.

I know my inicial post is confusing but amp#2 i'm referring to is a small s/s amp.

Hola amigo,

I have built a small SE rocking amp, low wattage that I use as a preamp to drive a50 watt amplifier and  it works great.  The important I think is to use a transformer to isolate both amplifiers.  If you go to the JENSEN transformers site, you ll find many transformers, their application  and  lots of schematics.
There is one called:  tube amp line out.

Hope that helps

Don't miss the Woodstock experience : ''FORTY YEARS AFTER'' at Club Soda,  in Montreal, august the 17th and 18th and october the 27th. Fifteen musicians onstage.  AWESOME !
P.S.: call me Alvin.

Try it with a tube amp. There's nothing on your schematic that should cause that symptom.
