Robbie Robertson, lead guitarist and songwriter of The Band, dies at 80  --AP News
"Robbie Robertson, The Band’s lead guitarist and songwriter who in such classics as “The Weight,” “Up on Cripple Creek” and “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down” mined and helped reshape American music, died Wednesday at 80.
"Robertson died surrounded by family in Los Angeles “after a long illness,” publicist Ray Costa said in a statement.
"The Canadian-born Robertson was a high school dropout and one-man melting pot — part-Jewish, part-Mohawk and Cayuga..."

Sure a lot of feuding and shit happened.

Let Robbie have a moment of respect on his death-day.

After the burial you can load your musket, mount your mule, and ride down on the Robertson clan.

was influential music as a kid, still gets played more than average.  The nice thing about being "the audience" I never looked past the album cover, or the concert.

Absolutely. My sincere apologies... RIP Robbie. After all these years I still enjoy listening to The Band and your guitar playing. Thanks Robbie.

I saw the The Last Waltz at the movie theaters when it was first released, and again a couple of months ago on my big screen TV for the millionth time. Never got old, still enjoy it as much as I ever did.

We're losing them all. Very sad.  :w2:  I loved the Band but for me it was always about Levon's voice.  :dontknow:

I love this song, Twilight, by Robbie Robertson. The chorus cuts me deep. He had a way with words.

The clip I posted here, below, is Shawn Colvin, solo acoustic finger picking and vocal. She changed these 2 lines,

from; A young man serves his country. And an old man guards the home.

to; Sometimes I serve my country. Sometimes I stay at home.

[Verse 1]
Over by the wildwood
It was a hot summer night
We lay in the tall grass
'Til the mornin' light come shining
If I had my way I'd never
Get the urge to roam
Sometimes I serve my country
Sometimes I stay at home

[Chorus]
Just don't put me in a frame upon the mantel
Where memories grow dusty old and gray
Don't leave me alone in the twilight
The twilight is the loneliest time of day

[Verse 2]
And I never gave a second thought
It never crossed my mind
To what is right or what is not
I'm not the judgin' kind
But I would steal your darkness
And the storms from your skies
We've all got certain trials
Burning up inside

[Chorus]
Just don't send me no distant salutations
Or silly souvenirs from far away
Don't leave me alone in the twilight
The twilight is the loneliest time of day
And don't put me in the frame upon the mantel
Where memories grow dusty old and grey
Don't leave me alone in the twilight
The twilight is the loneliest time of day
