Testing an inductor coil
« on: November 30, 2025, 10:23:11 am »
Is it enough to use a multimeter continuity test to test an inductor?

I have this Fender amp with 6 coils-

#1- no continuity
#2- 130 ohms
#3- 55 ohms
#4-32 ohms,
#5 -16   "
#6- 9     "
I have a feeling #1 is bad

Usually NOT

Obviously if It results open it is a bad thing

You require a specific item

Someting like this

www.ebay.com/itm/176909809975?_skw=esr+meter

Those items measures also impedency

Thanks!

 A question on the rebuild.

Should the v1B pin 3 resistor stay as is with the 1.5k or be replaced with a 680 ohm? I think on my last rebuild one of the forum members told me to do that

Thanks!

I don't see why it should be changed but you could use whatever value sounds good to you.
