Siegmund Doppler Vibe
« on: March 05, 2016, 12:33:23 pm »
Has anyone heard this FX pedal yet?

"An optional foot pedal can be connected for variable vibrato speed while playing.
 Two outputs for Mono and Stereo enable the use of two amplifiers, giving a true 3D effect with an
Asymmetrical Frequency Soundstage ™ separating the Doppler phase shift into its two frequency ranges.

 With this asymmetrical frequency vibrato we can hear the full frequency spectrum and original quality of the signal
 without the phase-canceling signal loss of a typical symmetrical vibrato."

Mini vacuum tubes, speed pedal (wah) option, mono/stereo, but big bucks.

Sounds real good to me. Sound clips at bottom of page.

Great concept.  To my ear, though the sound quality of the signal itself is pure, it's accompanied by an overbearing LFO "beat" which should be more in the backgorund.

I hear a little low end thumping and a little ticking in the background on this 1;

On this 1, it sounds to me like it blends in and is part of the effects sound?

I really like the 2nd sound sample but maybe I'd like it better with less of the low end trem?  :dontknow:

Ok, the Sigmund trem sounds better to me than these:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hL6-dgxyDWQ

Maybe the intensity was set a bit high for my taste, but done to emphasize the effect.

This guy Chris Siegmund is amazing. I met him in the 1990s when he had a shop in Austin, before he went to work for groove tubes. He makes utterly incredible guitars, amps, and now these type of things. He is also remarkable in that he was totally cool with letting me wander around his amp shop, ask a million questions, explain and attempt to reexplain things I was asking about as a naive idiot teenager...the real deal. He was the first person I ever ran into who would/ could talk about amps and my interest today can be traced directly back to him. Chris if you see this, thanks for everything!!!

Ok, the Sigmund trem sounds better to me than these:

I liked the sound of the Vox and the Peavey, the Fender Deluxe Reverb, not so much.

I like trem so the added/leakage trem mixed in with the vibrato, I kinda like it. What would be nice is if you could adjust the amount of trem so you can take it completely out or add in what you like.  :icon_biggrin:
