Fender Right Channel Quit...........
« on: September 17, 2010, 04:04:19 pm »
.........Well, I fixed a pesky vibrato that wasn't working in a Fender Bandmaster Reverb.....turned out to be a pretty dirty tube socket of all things (or a glazed pin......works now anywhooo)..........

I slid the chassis back in and turned it back on, and the whole channel was suddenly dead........(right side..."vibrato" channel.....both jacks are dead)......The volume pot has a funny "white noise" spot at about the # 2 to # 3 setting....comes in and out at the same spot....if you turn it up and back quick, it sounds like a little "thud".......it was there BEFORE the channel stopped working though.....strange.....left channel works fine.......no problems........

I checked the solder joints and all looks undisturbed and well, BUT didn't reset any......

Is there something simple or obvious that you guys would check first on this?  Pot suddenly gone?  No shorts at the jacks.....Just suddenly stopped working.......... :undecided:

To finalize my own thread, I went back into the same tube socket and checked it again (since it's directly in the circuit path), and instead of a quickie, I reamed each connector then re-sprung them for tension.......

Checked it again and the channel is working fine.........I guess I need another cup o' Joe..........Think simple first I guess.......

Check your input jacks wire and  grounding. Any other grounds as well. Grounds are probably one of the most talked about problems but overlooked as well.
