Any one know where I can find a small toroid like this one...

http://www.ampmaker.com/240v-6-3v-toroid-power-transformer-1500-0.html

He's in the UK, I'm un the US, with shipping it would be $56 which really isn't bad but I wanted to see if anyone knew of anything available domestically.

I thought it'd be ideal for something like a hotbox build.

Thanks!

shipping from the netherlands to UK should be a fraction of that from the USA to UK.

I haven't used an Antek torroidal PT, but have read reasonably good reports:

Don't know if any of those fit your specs.

I've also heard good things about Antek.

Keep in mind you have to pay some pre-attention to how you are going to mount the thing. I have read stories about folks who, for example, used a couple of U-bolts to mount one. Well, those bolts turned into half-turn secondaries, both ends went through the chassis and thus created a short, and the u-bolts heated up enough to destroy the insulation on the main donut.

The first electronics job I ever had, I hand-wound a toroidal transformer to build a power supply for the chief engineer. The primary was 120 VAC and filled up the 3.5" - 4" toroid 2 or 3 levels deep, if I recall. The secondary was about 25-30 parallel windings, only 1 or 2 turns each. The challenge was connecting all the secondaries together. That sucker could put out 50 amps at 5 volts, I couldn't believe it.

Thanks Iso but it's the other way around, I'm in the US and the transformers are in the UK.  Those looked nice but all the primary voltages are euro.

I've used anteks before, I can't remember on what, even on pro audio stuff I usually use regular guys.  I don't remember any issues though.  They have pretty amazing prices, but their model with the voltages I'm looking for is rated at 100 VA and is physically pretty large, I'm trying to cram this into a pedal sized enclosure.

That's unfortunate, any of the toroids I've used came with mounting hardware, usually a bolt, two neoprene washers, a large dish washer, and some nuts.

Amplimo has some kind of OEM agreements with Plitron in Canuckland. http://www.plitron.com/

This is Ok as long as the bolt doesn't loop da loop.

amplimo toroids designed menno van der veen - he designed most of the plitron stuff.  he wrote a book on toroid xformer use in audio amps - IIRC published by plitron.
