Using resistor for speaker load

 I was reading about making a line out for a Champ, basically a voltage divider, to plug to the input of a bigger amp so you can crank the smaller amp to power tube distortion and use the bigger amp to get the volume you want. Could you use a 4 ohm resistor instead of a speaker?

Really what I getting at is building a preamp with power tube distortion.

I found some resistors that are 8 Ohm 20 watt non inductive power resistors. I know a speaker has an inductive resistance but Would 2 of these in parallel work?

Hey Jeff - sure the two 8's would work, but take a look at this link and look at the TT PoS50 . It has a line out built in.

you could just make a simple one with only your two resistors in it.
