Champ idea/question 6v6/6l6
« on: January 10, 2011, 11:22:06 pm »

I have an Edcor PT and OT.

The PT-
325-0-325V @70mA
6.3VCT @2A
5V @2A

The OT-
SE 8k/8 ohm
15 watts.

The will be standard 5F1 circuit into a Weber sig 8" with possible UL tap used.
Wonder if I will blow up something running the 6L6?
The PT looks pretty hefty.
Peace.

At 8K with that supply, you will want to run the 6L6 at nearly the same current as the 6V6 (around 35mA-45mA). Why would the OT know the difference? About 5.6W out.

If you had a 4K load you could profitably work a 6L6GC much harder, 90mA.... ah, but you only have 65mA available from that 70mA PT. 340V and 65mA suggests 5K load and about 8W output.

That's ass-uming a hollow rectifier. If you go 1N4007 you have 450V available, should run near 60mA, will put 25 Watts in the tube, which is really too-too-much for 6V6, you will need the bigger jug. 10W out.

Thanks for the info.
I ended up with this OT by accident, unfortunately.
I originally was thinking about a 5Y3.
Hmm, I suppose there is no other way to beef up the output, in this set up, besides increased voltage?
