Diode Substitution?
« on: January 17, 2011, 05:09:18 pm »
The amp I'm building calls for a 1N4007, 1A/1000V diode.  I couldn't find one at the electronics store I go to.  I bought the only kind they had in the 1A/1000V bin.  It is marked:

GP 10M
GI 9544

Can this be used in the bias circuit of an AB763?

GP10M: GP = glass passivated, 10 = 1A, M = 1KV diode
GI = General Instruments (now part of the Vishay empire), 9544 = date code, 95 = 1995, 44 = 44th week

Datasheet: http://www.vishay.com/docs/88637/gp10a.pdf

Excellent stuff, vast overkill in a bias circuit... But yes, you may use it.

Thanks FYL - trying to figure out this diode code stuff was giving a headache!
