Question about 5 volt tap

So are my two 5 volt taps like the heater tap with no center tap, or is one neg. and one pos.. my thinking is the first but I had to ask. Thanks Bill

Where did you find them?

*Usually*, the 5V WINDING is for a rectifier, which often needs a dedicated winding and is historically 5V.

But you may be looking at something else. What?

Im looking at the rectifier winding Im just going to use it for my channel switching relays I just needed to understand it first so I could do a proper job. i have omron 5 volt relays someone else had given me a schematic of what they used for channel switching and it wasnt working for me. so i was going to go about it in a differant way. Don't use the 5v winding for relay if you use it for the Tube rectifier

My friend Im not using a tube rectifier Im using diodes other wise I wouldnt try to use it. But its power sitting there doing nothing i need it for my relays. Normally I just go off of my heater taps but I have 6 pre amp tubes and Im a little under my comfert zone I have kt66,s with only 5 amps for my heaters. so Im only .2 amps away from using to much now .Im just trying to figure the power distribution so I can build proper dc power for my relays.

Measure them. Should be 2.5 on each end of the winding totaling 5vac between the both of them. Full wave bridge rectify them and you should be around 7vdc unloaded.

Actually, since there is no CT on this winding (only two wires, right?) just measure across the two wires for 5vac.

When I did my TOS I used a 6 volt wall wart that I bought at the 99 cent store just took the casing off of it and wired it up.  Takes almost no room and works everytime.

Thanks guys worked perfect I will post the drawing of what I did for further critique but up for every one to use. Tony I will take pictures of my build this thing is a frankenstein its a marshall 2203 with an extra gain stage. the extra gain stage is voiced to give it the sir#36 specs plus it has a slo100 lead channel so even in a 24 inch chassis i had no space at all. I didnt want to add anymore power sections because I was afriad of making a ground loop problem.
After a full wave bridge this thing topped out at 6.2 volts DC my pair of 5 volt relays work great. just got to bias her up and debug any other problems I might have, Im sure there will be something even if its only 1 missed ground someware(LOL). Bill

Just wanted to add the diagram of what I used and a picture of it in the amp. Thanks for the help guys I didnt use LED,s so your on your own there next amp.
