Fitting more leads in a turret
« on: April 03, 2011, 09:55:56 pm »
On a few of my turrets, I'm having trouble fitting all the needed leads in the holes.  I'd rather not wrap any leads around the turrets.  The smalled drill bit I could find to widen the hole was just too large and looked to me like it would dramatically thin the walls of the turret.  Any suggestions on either how to SLIGHTLY open up that hole or get the leads in there?

wrap around the lead that's already occupying a hole.

Look at the NASA soldering specs which are a few threads down from this one, and you'll notice they specifically say not to suspend components from turrets, and to always wrap leads around the turret.  I usually do mine the way everyone else here does, but there is certainly no problem with wrapping leads around the turrets, and it may even be a better solution.
