Line level 1:1 transformer.

Hey gents,

I am posting this here because this isn't exactly tube related.

I have been having issues with audio sources (especially laptop computers) but also Mp3 players and such inducing a lot of power supply noise into the audio path. I have somewhat remedied it by using passive direct boxes, with this I lose 2 precious XLR channels on my mixers to have proper stereo signal. Ground lifting alone doesn't work, only X-former coupling.

I have several RCA stereo Line inputs that I would prefer to use. So I had an idea when browsing the Mouser catalog. They sell several 1:1 audio interstate transformers. I figured I could buy 4 and make 2 boxes that couple stereo RCA signals at line level. My problem is, I don't know what impedance would be ideal. They range from 500ohm:500 on up.

Well I'd better not reinvent the wheel. Thanks for pointing
Me in the right direction.

I still may develop a unit that also matches the headphone out of my pc soundcard to line level in on my mixer and/or home HiFi.
