Robin Trower 1975 S.F. Live Day Dream
« on: August 22, 2011, 08:11:12 am »

I got on a Trower kick this morning, listened to a lot of his live stuff. Loved the man then and now, and RIP James Dewar one of the Best Vocalists of the time, he had such a smooth nice voice. This I believe was probably the Cow Palace. Robin playing soulful as ever. Has the big Marshall's feeding back nicely, usually used a pair of stacks. Anyway, thought I'd share for you older guys, and dig younger guys, Robin is the man. I think Doug will like this one, I believe he's a Trower fan!

If you look up or hear any interview, Robin always lists Day Dream as his favorite song.  I have seen him every time he has been to St. Louis.  Got to meet him a few years ago and he is a really great, nice, humble guy.  He is one of those guitarists who it never seems like he plays the same run twice.  His shows are fantastic.

Yeah Jim, I've never got to see him live, but always dug his stuff. I had all his stuff from the 70's and early 80's, always like his tone and the wicked vibrato. He does seem like a pretty cool guy, he seems to share technique and equip freely. I didn't know it was his favorite song, but he always seemed to really be into and connected with the song. Last but surely not least, the most soulful Scottish man who ever sung a note, the late great James Dewar. In my humble opinion one of the best voices and surely the most soulful voice in any rock band (many want to compare obviously with Paul Rodgers, but I feel James was better, personal opinion of course), I miss him greatly, it was a sad loss. Thanks for checking it out.

Regards,

Don

Awesome!
I still listen to Trower all the time.

His phrasing and the way he bends notes is unique.

He's definitely in my top 5...and i've been especially obsessed since I saw him play earlier this year.
His recent recorded output shows that not only can he still play, but his tone just gets better and better. The sound he gets when he touches everso lightly is beautiful. :)

Oh man, his dynamics are just killer!  And then he throws in a two note lick with THAT vibrato and that one note is as thick and rich as a power chord.  He is just amazing... :worthy1:

Jim
