My Little Wing
« on: September 18, 2011, 10:19:42 pm »
I've been curious to build something with 6BM8 tubes and liked the looks of the Little Wing that was developed here (thanks Geezer, Tubenit and others I might be forgetting).

I finished up my small Little Wing head this afternoon and thought I'd share... I've posted some pictures to the gallery:

I haven't been able to spend much time with it yet, but so far I like it!  Looking forward to bringing it to rehearsal this week to see how it does with the band.

Here are some details of my build:
PT: Weber WRVBPT
OT: Magnetic Components Classic Tone 40-10822
Choke: Mojo 778
Changes from Posted Schematic:
  V1 Rk: 1uF
  V2A Rk: 470R
  6BM8 Shared Rk: 619R
Solid state rectifier with 125R "Sag" Resistor
  Heaters elevated to 6BM8 cathodes
Plates: 328
Cathodes: 29.7
Cathode Resistor: 619R Measured
Plate Diss: 6.8W

Mighty fine looking amp.

Did you make the cabinet? How about the face plates? Looks great.

             Thanks,      Brad     :icon_biggrin:

Thanks Guys!

Brad, yes I built the cab - most of it from circular and oval 1/2" birch ply cutouts left over from other builds' baffle and front panel cutouts that had been gathering dust.  It felt good to finally square up that "scrap wood" and put it to good use.

The faceplates are printouts from the local print shop that I drew up in Corel Draw, behind .090" clear acrylic from the local home center.

Very nice Boots. That's a heck of a standard to set for us hobby hacks though. Regards
