Is This The Right Tube
« on: October 19, 2011, 05:04:54 pm »
I went to my local amp guy and swapped some 6V6 tubes for some 6L6.  I just realized that the tubes I got say 6N3C.

Is this a 6L6?

No.

The 6N3 is a diode rectifier tube.

I am pretty sure that a 6N3 is not the same as a 6N3C.

The 6N3 doesnt look like what I have.

I know some say that the 6N3C is the same as a 6L6, but I wanted the advice from you guys here, because some places say they are different.

Google is your friend.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

The translation from Cyrillic to Western alphabet is a source of confusion here.

The Russian 6π3C translates to 6P3S.

The 6P3S is generally considered to be equivalent to the 6L6G.

The more robust 6P3S-E is approximately equivalent to the 6L6GC.

Yeah, looks like a power tube plate w/ a single filament.
