 regulated DC heater circuit
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 www.geocities.com/coap01/...supply.jpg

here is a circuit i shamelessly lifted from LM138 data sheet, that uses both 6.3V heater winding together with 5V heater winding to make a regulated 6.3V DC supply sourcing upto 5 amps. Probably not that useful in lowgain fenders or what not, but can be usefull in high gain monsters.

using 2 100uf caps to make a totally flat line DC seems cool.

comments/problems/suggestions? tiny daddy?

thanks

I cannot see your link but if the current is in amps you will need much more than a pair of 100uF caps. You can run an analysis using PSU Designer from Duncan Amps to make sure the voltage regulator gets enough voltage.
Usually there is no benefit to running the output tube filaments from DC.

I cant see it either, under construction, also waht tiny daddy said, i think you need more around 2200uf atleast or its a waste.

C1 needs to be large, 4700uF.

i changed C1 to 4700uf and C2 to 1000uf. i dunno what made me believe that something thats drawing amps of currenct will work with 100uf caps. i guess really low current would have worked. thanks tiny daddy.
