Easy beginner build. Great practice amp. I put a ALiCO 8" 4 ohm speaker in the cab. I personally think they sound better than the ceramic speakers.

I rebuilt my 70's champ like that. Same iron, disconnected the tone stack, used a fancy shmancy allessandro coupling cap, changed the feedback circuit, weber alnico.

One word: DANG! :icon_biggrin:

Nice build , I love my 74 vibro champ great for practice....lately I have been running a 10 inch alnico that reads around 2 ohms ...It''s something I picked up on e-bay a few years ago looked to be new at that time ...it really sounds incredible and I've had no bad results with the lower ohms....a bit more volume than my old 4ohm 8" jensen alnico....
