Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Got to get a 6v tranny, put them on their own circuit????? That would be cool to have them glowing. I might try that for next year and string them up before anything else is on the tree.

Why not? He'd get a spot in the local paper if it burned down and the glory of all those tubes lit up would be worth it. :l2:

Brilliant! I haven't put up a tree in years... maybe I will now as you've reminded me that I actually do have decorations.

Note that if tubes fall off the tree and break, that's not only shredded glass, it is very small amounts of somewhat toxic chemicals. Not a good idea around kids or dogs.

YES, Yes, safety is of the utmost importance now a days. Be sure to scuff up the glass on the top of the tube with sandpaper and wipe with alcohol(not Jack Daniels) before you epoxy the hook loop with JB weld. Attach the tube hooks well to the tree branches.
I can remember my father (God rest his soul) telling me, when he was a small boy, that it was his job to string up popcorn with a needle and thread to use for garland on the tree. He also told me they actually had wax candles attached to the tree and light the candles with a match.  Can you picture the people (idiots)of today doing that???  :blob8:

Yes I remember well, sure till wen I was 12 at my home we did the same

sometimes happened that the tree blow, but when the light was on there was always someone watching to prevent big troubles - we, the children were well educated to pay attention to what we do around to the tree ...............

mus be say that at that time trees were real trees and not plastic or paper trees, a fresh real tree is more difficult to burn quickly than the tree we use now

I love that phrase, "we the children were well educated to pay attention to what we do around the tree"  So true, without that education many of us would not be here today.  The trees had to be fresh cut (no such thing as a fake tree back then) probably put up Christmas eve and taken down shortly after the 25th.  No advertising two months before Christmas. Every gift was handmade, built, picked, cooked whatever. It all came from the heart and deeply  appreciated by all. It must have taken great effort to come up with gifts back then if you were poor like most folks were. (struggling farmers/factory workers with no unions). Today we have Walmarts." If they don`t have it , you don`t need it"  Makes me sick!!!!!

No!!! Don't drill a vacuum tube!!! ....Unless, of course, you're in a vacuum chamber. Negative pressure... implosion....
Uh shadoobie, shatter, shatter!
