Cool Edison-type light bulb
« on: December 20, 2011, 06:49:53 pm »
Doing some remodeling in my kitchen and went looking for light fixtures.  Found some really cool retro style with these old Edison style light bulbs.  The glass globes even have a little tear drop on the end.  Thanks to our government hell bent on getting us to use millions of mercury infused cfl's to kill our planet, this is me thumbing my nose with some good old fashioned elements - and lots of them!

I stock up whenever I go to home center.
They are getting rare.
Have a good collection now.
Waiting for all the cfi's I have purchased in the past to burn out so I can go back to "old school".
Don't like cfi.
LEDs are getting popular.

Cool bulb!!

PRR, got it at good old Lowes.  The fixtures are made by Allen and Roth.  The pic that I took shows the fixture in the link below.  We bought two others in the series too.  If you look at the reviews they all talk about how the bulbs do not put out a lot of light.  This is true, but it is a nice warm light.  I'm sure the elements are not being pushed so I hope they will last.  This style of bulb is called a "squirrel cage element", which is actually a good description!  They are available from several sources.  Also the new CFL law does not include "designer" incandescent bulbs, which would include this one, so I hope to still see them on the shelves.
