Ampeg B-15 build
« on: February 21, 2012, 08:34:02 am »
Here is an Ampeg B-15 bass amp build. It's one channel and based on the earliest circuit. Cathode biased, all octal. The entire amp was squeezed into a Champ sized chassis.
Sorry, no gut pics... Forgot to shoot.

Wow!  That's in pristine shape.  Thanks for sharing the photo.

With respect, Tubenit

That looks like a nice small, simple rig.

As a bass player, I wish I had had the $$'s to pick up one of the real ones years back, big bucks now. Building a single channel version like that one is high on my list of amp projects

Best, TD

I like how you retain some of the Ampeg styling in the mostly-Fender type cabinet. The front panel and Ampeg stove knobs are quite cool!

Thanks guys... The picture does not do justice to the faceplate. It has the same graphics as the original. Those knobs are hardware store bought. I am not the cosmetics designer. My friend comes up with all the stylin'.
Here is a better picture of the face plate.

The faceplate DOES look cool. What method did you use for that one? I'm in a quandary researching faceplate methods for the Tweed-configured AB763 I'm working on. Just want simple lettering.

Nice looking face plate. What transformers did you use? Any pictures of the insides?

Anymore info on this?
I am getting ready to build one myself.

Built this one on the cheap... I didn't source the parts but chassis and iron are from Allen Amplifiers. He makes a stainless steel chassis (looks like a kitchen appliance). I won't use that again because its way too hard to drill.
Sorry, no gut pictures but most of the layout was taken from a gut picture of a reissue.
Having a 1x15 ported cabinet made now. Should be just like the cab from the fliptop.
