Steve Howe / Yes....Yours is no disgrace
« on: March 12, 2012, 11:33:59 am »
This is one of the most incredible guitar performances of all time (and LIVE, at that)....one of my favorite bands, doing one of my favorite songs.

And Steve Howe....what can you say?

I thought I'd share it, especially for the younger folks, so they could see what real music & talent is (was?) in these days of lacking.....

especially the part starting about 5:40 (solo starts at ~7:30)

Search youtube & find pretty much anything YES live, it's all good,

Yes - Yours Is no disgrace live 1972 (Yessongs)

Wow, I saw this tour!  Doug, you need to get a Rick Wakeman cape for your next video!  Steve Howe still weighs in at 95 lbs wet these days!  His fingers are freaky!

Big Yes fan. Saw Yessongs when it was doing the cinema circuit here in OZ in the '70s then later got hold of it on VHS and wore that out plus wore out the audio cassette I had. Recently got it on CD (Remastered but still marginal sound quality). Brilliant album by a band at their absolute peak (IMO).
Steve Howe was one of my first guitar 'heros'. Used to play the intros to Roundabout and Siberian Khatru endless on my cheapo Japanese strat wannabe.
Thanks for posting and yes Jim, Steve hasn't aged that well............check out Songs From Tsongas DVD for some recent live stuff from the classic line up.

Hey Rob!  Good to see you here!  Don't be such a stranger!  Steve may have aged, but boy can he still play!

Is that Rick Wakeman or Liberacci on keyboards?   :l2:

The capes and hair made it hard for me to pay attention to the music at first, and I became a teenager in 1972!

OTOH that is a truly impressive live performance.  Shredding at its best and really tasty.  Starting a bit after 8 minutes in, there's almost a bebop feel to Howe's soloing.  Very cool, so thanks for sharing.

Cheers,

Chip

I saw Yes and was just a few feet from Steve..... Truly amazing!  I'm still wrapping my mind around some of his licks after many years.
