Deluxe-umble Reverb idea
« on: April 11, 2012, 07:14:07 am »
I really enjoy the clean tone of my Tweed BluezMeister. It has a warmer mid-ly clean tone to my ears than most of the AB763 DR amps I've heard.  Plus the TBM's  mid-boost and PAB will add some overdrive to the tone.

So, I was thinking it might be cool to have something like this but with the features of reverb and vibrato from a Deluxe Reverb. I drew this up.  I have not built it. My guess is that this could be built to use either 6V6's or 5881/6L6.  However, the vibrato would work "best" with the 6V6's.

Just thought I'd share the idea. I will try to create a layout for it at some point.

With respect, Tubenit

Ive never built an amp with reverb. Ive built something similar to this with kt66  and its my favorite amp. Is getting that reverb setup easy? I fully understand your schem. What driver for the reverb? Doug have it?
thanks

Sure, I just use Doug's standard  replacement (fenderish) reverb trannie and reverb tank.  Easy to do.

I have now added a layout to go with the schematic here:

My only comment is that it's a waste of a good tube triode to use it as the cathode follower in the tremolo circuit.  I think it was Tubeswell who posted a circuit that substituted a MOSFET there.  That would free up the triode for use as an extra gain stage, parallel triode input stage or something else fun  :icon_biggrin:

Also, that bias vary tremolo works great with 6L6s.  You just have to tweak a couple of component values.

Thanks so much for keeping the ideas coming!

We have proven once again no plan survives contact with the enemy, or in this case, with the amp.

Tubenit --

Perhaps it would be fun for you to put in that 6au6-based tremelo that you put in the Carolina Blue Overdrive amp instead of the Deluxe one. I remember you really liked the 6au6 trem. It might make this amp a bit more unique. Just a thought.
