In an old Alfred Hitchcock mystery anthology I found a story.

There's a blonde in a negligee. There's stolen jewels. There's a TV repairman who gets "hit with the full voltage force of a horizontal output transformer".

Several pages, a corpse, arrest, silly side-plot later, Danny figures it out:
