70 Watt Pro Reverb (Ultra linear)

Is there any reason that one would not want to modify an otherwise untouched 70 watt Pro Reverb (Ultralinear with Master Vol)?  Guessing it is 1980ish.  I picked one up for a good price, thinking I would just be modifying it into something else (not sure what yet).  I am only hesitating because, it looks to be untouched, even has the original caps in it.  I know these amps dont have the best reputation in some circles, but seem to be appreciated in others.  Just wanted to get other opinions before firing up the soldering iron.  Thanks.

As long as it's in good working order,the they are great for steel guitar players.They are too loud and clean for blues and rock without a nice pedal.They sound rather lifless in comparison with a nice blackface pro IMHO.
  Voltages are really high,the circuit is stiff and poorly wired overall,the ultralinear connection is clean and stereo sounding.Great for some stuff as I said,like lap steel or pedal steel or old style chicken picken clean country.
  The master doesn't work like some masters,don't expect any nice grindy tones.
Not horrible by any means,just so different from earlier pro's that it's not funny.Nice speakers,not so nice dadoed baffle board.Dumb.But fixable.
