interesting faceplate materials ?

Anyone one have a source for unique faceplate materials for DIY plates ? Such as this example of a "crushed glass" pattern....

Look to the material on the left of the image, seems to be the material you are looking for, or simply is the reverse side of the matirial on the right ???

Sometime ago I've seen a faceplate made with the material on the right of the image, it was very nice, it looks like a plexi faceplate, but instead of gold it was a very nice gray mirror

Not sure if they will have exactly what you may be looking for, but this is the supplier we use for some signage materials.

Keep in mind you could have a clear faceplate, with a material or color behind it to achieve the same look.

I've seen thin metalflake-looking adhesive material that reminds me of the 3 Monkeys stuff you showed; a piece of clear acrylic over it would capture the same look.

You could also paint a chassis under a clear panel. Any color, hammertone, metallic, etc.

I used that trick with my Standel build. The metal chassis is painted the overall color of the "panel" with a clear acrylic faceplate over it. The acrylic was reverse-engraved (which just put the engraved side closest to the chassis, and leaves a smooth surface to the touch), and lit from the edge to cause the lettering to light up. You can light it with normal pilot lamps or LEDs (I used blue LEDs)

Yeah, I'm gonna do another picture of that. My phone's camera sensor was easily overloaded by the LED light, and gives a color balance that was not what you see looking at it.

I was also gonna update that thread with some soundclips, now that I have a means of recording to my computer.

it'd be really nice if you could show how you managed to do that look.

the hughe and knetter front panels use the same kind of things. blue LED with plexiglass.

There's enough there to cut multiple pieces from it if you think you'll need more than one!

If you want to use a circular or table saw to cut it,,,,make sure the blade is spinning in the opposite direction of how you would normally cut wood
(same method for cutting vinyl siding),,,so it doesn't chip
