6g15 reverb
« on: January 31, 2013, 08:44:21 am »
Can you use a 6g15 reverb in the effects loop on a mixing board without causing any problems? Also I have an old 1983 SX602 Carvin mixer that has a reverb tank in it and was wondering if the tank will work in a 6g15. I am trying to decide weather or not to rebuild the mixer or to trash it. It still works but is in serious need of a cap job.

The wet/dry gain levels in a 6G15 are designed to be used which a typical single coil p'up level input - i.e.; its made to use in front of a guitar amp with a geetar plugged into the input.

If you try to use if in a loop, then depending on the strength of the signal being fed into the input, you may not hear much wet signal (because the CF bypass stage will 'preserve' whatever level of signal is being fed into the input, and if the input signal is too strong, it will overpower the wet side) -so you would want to have an FX loop send with an adjustable send level (as well as an adjustable FX return level (or FX/dry balance).
