Crate Vintage Club 60 Problems

I have a Crate Vintage Clube 60 sitting on my bench that when you tap on it anywhere you can hear it thru the speaker , the owner change the tubes twice and I put known good tubes of my own it it so I pretty sure it's no a tube problem . amy idea ?????

Ha....that amps little brother (VC30) is what got me into amp building in the first place! My son had one and it had the same problem, and was intermittent. Couldn't find it and ended up ripping the PCB out and putting a 5F6A board in there with an AC30 power amp.

Anyway, I would get out the chop stick and poke around on the board to find the problem area, especially caps, as they can go microphonic, and also tap the resistors and solder joints.

Does it do it all the time,or only after warm up? If after it gets hot, try some freeze spray on the components around the problem area (if you can narrow it down that close)

Yeah I already chopsticked the tubes and board , I"ll do the board again maybe I missed something the first time. It does it all the time and on both channels .

Get rid of it as fast as you can. The power transformer low voltage relay feed,reverb regulator,and voltage regulator in that amp will all cause bad problems between the clean and dirty channels not to mention the LDR's and none working footswitch transistor. I had to order a new PT from Patrick @ MM last year. The PT will not be found anywhere else on the planet. Sorry for the bad news but bail quickly/

yeah I have checked every component on this thing ever ground and everything else I could think of , I can't find anything wrong with it. Looks like you my be right plexi . Thanks guys.

Is this the amp you have? Not a bad sounding amp.

yes sir that's the one , it sounds ok , a little sterile on the clean channel and the drive channel doesn't have alot of gain , but it sounds ok.
