Amaretto Boost
« on: April 07, 2013, 05:48:44 am »
yeah, in an instant coffee can, cuz i'm crazy like that...

this project started as a rangemaster clone, and it was cool, just too "stopped wah" with the germanium nte126 i could obtain (an OC44 is called for originally, but this was as close as the electronics store in my neighborhood could come).

then rebuilt as a modified LPB1, with .005uf cap on the input, and a .02 on the out. Stellar!

the best part is: i've got treble-bleed caps on the vol pots of my guitars, and the boost makes the old-guy-channel-switching thing work even better - turn down to 7 or so and it really cleans up, with nearly zero volume loss!

thanks smackoj,
it wouldn't require much collecting to make either boost :) man, are they simple..

here's the vero layout for the RM i used (i know Andy Harrison wouldn't mind me re-posting, hopefully it's kosher here)

then the LPB-1 circuit (from Beavis Audio). changed c1 to .005uf, and c2 to .02 - not quite a screaming bird, but no longer full-range boost. it's not transparent, but it's right for me - gives my amp fangs! and like i said, makes the old-guy-channel-switching scary good..

thanks; that's helpful. I like the simple stuff because a few changes makes a whole lotta diff. to the sound.
